I live in a small coastal town in Michigan on the shore of lake Huron, for years now business’s have closed their doors and never returned and nothing took its place, 7 years ago there were some 50 stores in the area now about 20 including real estate companies that have bulldozed old buildings in favor of their own, the roads have not been repaired in 4 or 5 years except the main street which has changed from a 4 lane to a two lane , back to a four lane and right now, this summer they are tearing it out completely blocking the shops from the meager tourists we still get and the plan is to replace it with a smaller road that wont be finished until September, plus they are installing outdoor toilet units for public use like the kind you find at roadside parks or rest areas…..what would you think was going on?…its my opinion that Kalitta Air is the only reason this town is still here, if they closed up shop we would be gone in a month….20 years ago Wurtsmith AFB closed and this town nearly saw its end…its like a cancer patient.

I’ve been looking for a house for about 5 – 6 months and I found one that looks great. The house is a For Sale by Owner, so that’s another great thing since we won’t have to pay commissions if we strike a deal. The problem I’m having is the lady won’t call me back. I called the number 3 times in the last week and left messages, but no one has returned my calls. I’ve driven back by to make sure I had the right number, and I do. I would knock on the door, or leave a note in the mailbox, but no one appears to live in the home. Has anyone had this problem before? What should I do?

My uncle’s house will be sold within 2 weeks. I wanted to know from a Lawyer if possible if it were to sell would I get the money from the house even though the EE Bonds have not been officially Transferred over to my name. Now here’s the full deal. The Estate Is In NJ & my mom is the Executor Of His will. My Mom gets nothing as far as the sale of the House.
Me,my sis,bro & Three Charities as well as the real estate agent get the Proceeds from the house. I live In Florida! Will I be able to get the $$ from the sale of the Home as soon as It sells or does that $$ go back Into the ESTATE?
Thank you

i am curious how much you spend on groceries?how many people do you feed on a normal basis?
how often do you shop?how do you end up spending the amount that you do?
i feed myself,a 23 month old,and husband that eats enough for 3 people because he is very active in different sports all through the year and it builds an appetite all year long. toddler snacks, drinks, and snack-able meals/meats are kind of costly, but my baby loves them. we buy plenty of meat and other items to make big meals that will last for lunch the next day at home or work.
i spend 200 to 225 each 2 weeks, buy whatever is on sale.i plan the menu for 2 weeks/10 days.we eat out on my off days.the only things we refuse to do off brand is bread, most juices, cheese, certain seasonings and sauces that i do not make from scratch, and condiments. otherwise we shop store brand if it is not on sale at regular brand and regular brand items that we have to have.

I invest my moneys in the US 10 years and 2 years bonds for price appreciation gains and at the same time shorting gold. Working great so far and still waiting for the ultimate gold bubble burst. I wana eat these naive goldbug fools and their “US bankruptcy, collapse of paper money” charlatanism for dinner

I’ve heard real estate appraisers might have some strict rules to follow. But I’m wondering if there is any good way to get an appraisal to lean to your favor?
The main reason is for getting rid of that stupid PMI charge that requires you to have around 20% equity. Or else potentially if it could help in a refi situation where your equity is just boarderline.
Any way to choose a home appraiser who will lean the figures your way a little?

When my husband and I we’re first engaged, we started looking around at wedding & reception venues, new rings, wedding attire, honeymoon spots. I really wanted to get married at the Wayfarers Chapel, but it was just to expensive. With it all added up, we would be spending close to $15,000. There was no way that we we’re going to spend $15,000 on just one day out of our life. Someone suggested that we take out a loan, we would have been paying on that loan for at least 5 years.
My husband and I decided that we could comfortably spend $3,000. With help from family and friends we had a wonderful wedding, reception, and honeymoon. This is the approximate break down of our wedding costs from 11 years ago:
Guests: 30 people (Photographer, chef, family and very close friends)
Photography: $300.00 (Navy Photo Journalist, who is my husbands friend, lodging, and gas)
My platinum and diamond wedding ring: $400.00 (Estate sale. People thought it was white gold)
Husbands wedding ring: $100.00 (J.C. Penney)
Wedding Attire: $600.00 (My dress, accessories, shoes, alterations, my sisters dress, and alternations, my husbands suit ensemble, and the best mans ensemble)
Food, Drink and Cake: $500.00 (Cooked and presented by a Navy Culinary Specialist, who is my husbands friend)
Tent, table, chairs, cutlery, napkins, glasses, table cloth rental: $200.00. (Family friend owns a party store)
Marriage license: $36.00
Transportation: $100.00 (Rented a car for 4 days)
Officiant: Free (Married by my daddy’s brother, who is a Methodist minister)
Hair, nails, and makeup: Free (Done by my mom)
Music: Free (My very talented cousin)
Flowers: Free (Great-aunt’s garden)
Wedding Venue: Free ( Great-aunt’s garden)
Reception Venue: Free (Great aunt’s garden)
Honeymoon: Free (5 days in my Uncles vacation home in South Lake Tahoe)
Total Cost: $2, 400 (including taxes)
What we’re the costs of your low budget wedding? Do you regret having a low budget wedding?

Started workin for a company in April 2010, basically seasonal according to the scheduling of little league games (they don’t play year round). Did not have a car til end of Oct 2010, but had transpo. Had wreck Feb 2011 and totaled car (only missed one day due to wreck but boss knew where I was goin on my day off & placed someone on call in case I wouldn’t make it). Coworker that lived near by agreed to take me to and from work for help with gas. Another allowed me to sleepover in the event we had to travel for sales. Agreements continued til June 2011 when I bought friends car. By mid-late Nov the car had broken down to much, couldn’t afford to keep fixing (wasn’t worth time & $$). Still owed 350 & told friend do whatever I’m done w/ it. Received rides from same person again. Last day worked for the 2011 year was between Dec 19-Dec 23. Starting June 2011 had shoulder pain that came and went. By Mid Dec it was more frequent & unbearable. Dec 26, 2011 went to ER, foun out it was gallstones (2 related by nerves). Told might need to work Dec 31. Said Yes if able 2 with pain. Dec 30 back in ER @10pm, had gallbladder surgery, home by 730pm Dec 31st. Boss was notified about surgery by my mother (i was on morphine & incoherent) by early morning Dec 31st. Aftercare papers stated no lifting/strenuous activity for 4 weeks. Coworker picked me up to go to a mandantory 2hour office meeting between Jan 10-Jan15. Told boss would be able to return to work in about a week and a half after post op appt where I’d get papers for med leave. Said she’d inform me of schedule.
